FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Nope! Axe throwing is for everyone: total beginners, date-night warriors, and weekend thrill-seekers alike. Our instructors will teach you how to throw like a pro.

Yes! Axe throwing is super safe as long as you follow the rules and listen to our instructors. We run a safety brief at the beginning of your session that will cover everything you need to know and our fully qualified axe-perts will be with you at all time. Safety is our top priority and we enforce strict rules to ensure everyone enjoys a safe experience. Our coaches reserve the right to revoke axe throwing privileges for anyone who doesn’t adhere to safety guidelines.

Channel your inner lumberjack: closed-toe shoes are a must (no sandals or flip-flops), and we suggest clothes you can move in. Flannel optional, but highly respected. And don’t forget, we’re in Donegal, so expect 4 seasons in 1 day!

You need to be 14 or older to throw axes with us. Under 18s must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Centenarians throw for free!

We don’t usually allow spectators, but drop us a line and we’ll try our best to help: info@therustyaxe.ie

Our sessions are 60 minutes of chucking axes, perfecting your aim, and probably shouting ‘YES!’ dramatically when you hit the target.

Make sure you arrive 10-15 mins early to sign waivers and get organised. Our sessions start exactly on time. We have a lot to cover in our sessions, and if you’re not there on time you’re holding up a group of people who have also paid for their time. Since safety is our prioirty, you need to be here for the safety briefing. We won’t have time to rewind and so reserve the right to forfeit your session if you are late.

We’re located in the heart of East End, Bundoran. Opposite Foam cafe, next door to The Phoenix Tavern, in the yard of the old BMG building. Click here to view our location on Google Maps.

We strongly suggest booking in advance to avoid disappointment. Walk-ins are welcome when we have space, but if you want to avoid the heartbreak of being turned away, book online.

Unless your name is Ragnar Lodbrok, leave your personal axe at home. We’ve got all the gear you need, and it’s all regulation-sized and ready to fly!

Hell yeah we do! We’re the perfect spot for birthdays, stag & hen parties, corporate outings, break-up celebrations… you name it. If your group likes fun, we like your group. Groups over 30 must prebook ahead of time so we can allocate enough time for your party.

All bookings are non-refundable, but we will try our best to reschedule you if you give us at least 48 hours notice. If you ghost us last-minute, we might cry into our flannel.

Absolutely not. We have a zero tolerance approach, and anyone found to be intoxicated by drink or drugs will not be able to throw. Booze and blades don’t mix, and safety is our number one priority. But feel free to celebrate your axe-cellent aim with a few scoops after you throw (off-site, of course).

We don’t, but there are lovely cafes and a shop across the road. If you need to eat like a Viking, have a feast before or after!

We throw rain or shine, like real Vikings! Our venue is outdoors, be prepared in case it rains. It’s Donegal after all, so dress appropriately as we can get 4 seasons in 1 day!

There’s nearby on street paid parking available. Make sure to leave yourself a few extra mins to find a spot.

Nope, sorry. While we’re big fans of animals, it can be loud and there are objects being thrown (axes, remember?), so it’s not safe for your little companions to run around.

You may be throwing with other member of the general public depending on how busy we are. Get in touch if you have a special occasion or team event coming up and want to book out the entire venue: info@therustyaxe.ie

We try to accommodate all abilities into our sessions. The venue is fully wheelchair accessible but as it is an outdoor area the ground is a bit uneven in parts. If you would like to know more, reach out to us: info@therustyaxe.ie
